Who We Are
We are a Philippine non-stock, non-profit organization established in April 2001.
We promote environmental education through sustainable living. Our mission is to produce environmental education materials and advocate environmental protection using publication, multi-media production, sustainable livelihood and through Ecovillage development.

The Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) is a holistic curriculum that empowers individuals and communities with knowledge and skills to reshape our world towards self-reliance and sustainability. Drawing from the best Ecovillage and community projects across the Earth, this course promotes an ecological lifestyle that is rooted in community living. It is organized by Happy Earth NGO and is affiliated with Gaia Education, the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN), and is an official contribution to the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development UNDESD (2005-2014).
A New Way of Learning

This 4-week live-in course uses an integral perspective in analyzing the state of our home - the planet Earth. It combines place-based solutions and practical application in solving the relevant problems of our times. Focus is given to weaving the fabric of community since it is in the strength of positive relationships fostered by people in community that leads us to a harmonious relationship with each other and with nature. Communication and group decision-making skills are used all throughout the course. The medium of instruction is in English. This course is for a maximum of 20 participants only.

Thanks to a bursary, we can now offer a 25% reduction on course fees. Effective June 25, 2010, the new course fees are:

Course Venue:

Participants will experience living "Off-the-Grid" as a learning community at Tuwa The Laughing Fish Eco-Homestead. Facilities include natural buildings, a ricefield, a fruit orchard, natural swimming pond, kayaking lagoon, an art and design studio, community kitchen, and organic gardens. It is 90 kilometers north of Manila, and is a 2-hour drive by car and 3 hours by bus. It is located at Guapito Street, Barangay Sta. Rita, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija, Philippines.
This course is relevant to:
Community leaders, students with an interest in sustainable design, NGO’s, architects, builders, people starting a community, public officials, and urban and rural planners, neighborhood associations, universities, local business associations, town councils, religious community groups, educators, youth, and consultants.
