Purpose of Ecovillages
The effects of human activity on Earth have become so pervasive and invasive that the challenges we now face are unprecedented. In fact, the looming threat of Global Climate Change is beyond anyone’s experience and is becoming more pressing as environmental limits are reached.
It is in the strength of positive relationships fostered by people living in a meaningful community and their reconnection with nature that will lead us to a more sustainable human presence on Earth.
The inspiring example of the Global Ecovillage Movement is a beacon of light that is ushering our way into a bright and sustainable future.
Happy Earth’s Ecovillage Development Program promotes the establishment of Ecovillages and sustainable communities that are centers of living, learning, and outreach. Happy Earth conducts sustainability courses called Ecovillage Design Education (EDE).
Around the world, people are building these sustainable communities that attempt to get away from waste, pollution, competition, and unsustainable living. The Global Eco-village Network links hundreds of these communities worldwide. Happy Earth is the Philippine Coordinator for the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN).
